Due to Covid 19 we are currently running a smaller menu to normal, as well as shorter opening hours. This allows us to keep Carriages well sanitised & run with 'skeleton staff' as mentioned in the current Government Guidelines.

Friday & Saturday 12 - 2pm & 6pm - 9pm
Sunday 12 - 3pm

We have put some rules & regulations into place for your visit to Carriages. This is to keep you & our staff as safe as possible so please do help us with these. We aim to make your visit as enjoyable & 'normal' as possible though!

Walk along the platform and jump on board one of our two steam era carriages, you can relax with a drink and see what takes your fancy from our extensive menu!

Located in the heart of the Peak District we are lucky to be surrounded by so many local suppliers, who deliver us the highest quality produce in order to create top class dishes - with meat which has been reared in the surrounding fields from E.W.Coates in Darley Dale, fish delivered fresh from R.G.Morris in Buxton and our fruit & veg delivered daily from Tomsons in Buxton.

Our Carriages really are something special! Hand made in 1987 (although you wouldn't think they aren't the real deal!) Sit & enjoy your meal whilst feeling like you're sat on the Pullman Carriage or Orient Express!

With our new bar, we offer a selection of local Real Ales such as Peak Ales Swift Nick and Hartington Bitter from Whim Ales, wines which have been sourced by John Hattersley Wines in Bakewell and a range of soft drinks and spirits & cocktails.

We run a fabulous ‘Ladies Lunch’ which has been running every second Wednesday of the month for over 20 years! With a three course meal and entertainment - whether it be a talk from a local business or items for sale, surrounded by like-minded people, we are always looking to invite more ladies to lunch!

Single or group bookings are welcomed. We cater for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, christenings & anything in between! Whether you'd like to order off our menu or work with us to create a menu just for you!

      We run a ladies lunch every second Wednesday of the month, which has now being going for over 20 years.

      Wednesday 11th March – we have Defib4Life talking about Defibrillators, what they are used for in the community & how to deliver CPR along with real life stories.

      The menu will be –

      Starter – Ham Hock Terrine served with Grandmas Piccalilli

      Main – Spanish Style Cod Fillet – served with Sautéed New Potatoes, Chorizo, Green Beans & Pine Nuts

      Pudding – Pistachio Panna Cotta with Raspberry Coulis & Berries

      Wednesday 8th April - we have Julie from the Body Shop

      The menu will be -  

      Starter – Chicken Liver Parfait served with Onion Marmalade

      Main – Beef Cassoulet served with a Creamy Horseradish Mash & Pak Choi

      Pudding – Chocolate Mousse served with Fresh Strawberries

      Wednesday 13th May – we have Paul Leonard – serving Senior Investigating Officer – Tactical Advisor with the South Yorkshire Police. He is coming to talk about the police investigation into the disappearance & murder of an eminent Sheffield Doctor.

      The menu will be –

      Starter – Roasted Red Onion Tart served with a Balsamic Glaze & Rocket

      Main – Cajun Salmon Fillet served with Coriander Infused Rice, Tzatziki & a Crisp Salad

      Pudding – Lemon Posset served with Homemade Shortbread & Strawberries

    • Wednesday = PIE NIGHT!

      We now run a pie night on Wednesdays!

      Each week you will have the choice from four pies with handcut chips, creamed mashed potates or new potatoes & garden peas, mushy peas or seasonal veg.

      This is running alongside our full menu.
